The fabric is very durable and wear resistant and it has been decorated with Chorebap motifs, which is a geometrical Cambodian design very similar to the Jasmine flower motif, both of which are very traditional in Cambodia. The Jasmine Chorebap is a traditional piece of silk brocade which used to be tailored into queens' dresses and shawls, clothes for concubines, emperor robes and covers for everyday use items in the imperial court such as quilts cushions, pillows and mattresses. It was worn by royalties during ceremonies and it was also given as a royal tribute to ambassadors, imperial ministers and even to foreign kings.
The Brocade technique is an ancient weaving technique that goes back more than one thousand years and was originated in Asia, and it was traditionally interwoven with gold threads, which is not the case anymore nowadays. However, this fact makes the brocade being considered as the finest weaving technique and the rarest silk fabric. As brocade was chosen for official outfits, this technique was perfected to a zenith of craftsmanship.
Brocade designs feature beautiful shapes, both muted and gorgeous colors, bold patterns and diverse color combinations.
