Hol is a sophisticated kind of silk fabric and, being hand-woven, it makes this particular piece very special. The motif that is displayed on the front of the cushion cover is a traditional Cambodian motif, and the silk threads that make up these cushions were tie-dyed following a very specific technique called Ikat silk. The patterns that are found upon the cushion covers are normally prepared on weft threads, and the actual designs start to appear during the weaving of the silk. For many people, Hol is used during the likes of special occasions and official ceremonies making it very traditional in Cambodia.
