This peaceful Head of Buddha was inspired by a piece located at Preah Khan Temple in Angkor site (late XIIth - earlier XIIIth century). A 'Buddha' refers to a person who has reached a perfect level of consciousness and knowledge, in other words, who has been enlightened.

The finely carved shape of the statue is rendered with simplicity and softness. The continuous undulating line of the arching eyebrow and the graceful half-closed eyelids, give a touch of elegance and spirituality to this image. His face is topped with a small protuberance, enveloped by large flat curls. The very long earlobes are reminders of his royal birth and youth. An internal wisdom and a quiet meditation emanate from this piece.
